About the Presentation: Join Kirk, BGS Member and Director of Education, as he takes us on an his journey of discovery that began in 1996 and continues to this day. Through his relentless pursuit, Kirk has uncovered his birth parents and delved into his Irish-American genetic heritage.
In this presentation, Kirk will share the traditional research methods he initially used, the pivotal role of DNA testing in advancing his search, and how modern tools like Newspapers.com have unveiled fascinating new details. Meet Our Speaker – Kirk Hayer:
| Kirk started doing genealogy the early 1990’s using the software package called Family Tree Maker. His initial efforts in genealogy was to document his (adopted) parents’ heritage (Swedish and Pennsylvania-Dutch/German). Later, he began searching for his birth-parents and researching their heritage (Irish and German). He is a long-time user of Family Tree Maker software and Ancestry.com. And more recently, FamilyTreeDNA, 23andMe, MyHeritage, Findmypast, FamilySearch and WikiTree. |

- 6:50 pm – Short business meeting
- 7:00 pm – Program will be presented via Zoom to members and guests**
