genealogy for everyone

Helping you, find your
family roots.

Next General Meeting…
Why broomfield genealogy society

Our aim is to make Genealogy fun and exciting.  As such, we provide opportunities and education programs to help individuals find their roots.   In addition, you can find out about the numerous resources available for ancestral research. We encourage our members to learn the proper ways to document their discoveries and share them with others.  Founded in 2001, BGS serves Broomfield and the surrounding Boulder-Denver metropolitan area.

General meetings are held the 3rd Monday of the month, February – November, unless preempted by a Federal holiday. Meetings start at 6:00 p.m. (Mountain) for socializing, then a short business meeting at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7:00 p.m. For 2023, meetings will be a combination of online, hybrid (online and in-person) and in-person only. For meeting location/venue details, please check the upcoming events below or the events calendar page.

Special Interest & Focus groups

Join a special interest or focus groups to learn more about a genealogical topic of interest.

Our BGS Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and Focus Groups are communities within our broader organization that serve to support our members that have a mutual interest in a specific genealogical area. They typically meet monthly depending on the interests of the members and the group’s facilitator.  These groups aim to advance knowledge in a specific field of genealogy in the group by:

  • Offering opportunities for discussion, questions, and sharing of information, skills and experiences among genealogists.
  • Having subject matter experts share their knowledge.

Volunteer Opportunities! We would love to form several more SIGs, but we need to recruit a leader or facilitator for each group.

If you are interested in joining a Group below or if you want to form a new Group, click on the sign-up link below.
