First Families of Colorado Program
The Colorado Council of Genealogy Societies introduced First Families of Colorado Recognition Program in 1983. There are three categories of certificates:
The certificates issued by the Council show the ancestor’s name and the name of the applicant. The certificates are numbered and are suitable for framing.
Certificate applicant need not currently reside in Colorado, but must be a direct descendant of an ancestor who qualifies. Applicant must submit proof of relationship between them and their earliest Colorado ancestor. See application for types of acceptable proofs.
