The National Archives branch at Denver has been given approval to reopen our Genealogical Research Room on an appointment-only basis (not a “walk-in” basis). Our front doors will remain locked for now. Those who would like an appointment should email us (below) with a day and time request, beginning Monday, June 26, so we can put your name on the calendar. We will come up and open the door when you arrive but you will benefit by having our main number in your phone: 303-604-4740. There is no buzzer or attendant.

We still have Ancestry.com, the Institutional Version, Fold3 and related printing ability. Self-service is the norm as we do not have the staff or volunteers to be present to consult extensively on non-computer problems. If you have a friend or relative who will accompany you in the room, he or she will also need an appointment.

We have not received guidance specific to volunteers yet but if you have any interest, reply to let us/me know. Our room no longer has 28 computers. We are down to about a dozen computers and have limited appointment slots at any one time. If we may learn your level of interest—or even lack of interest—we can plan for a resumption of services.

— Thanks for your consideration.

Thanks to Carol for providing this information to the genealogical community.
